about us

The Nature Protection and Study Society - Natura was founded in Sombor on the 28 December, 2008.

The primary aims of the Society are to study plant and animal species, and their ecological needs and habitat requirements. Our aim is to get more information and knowledge through research, to educate inhabitants with a purpose for better nature conservation.

According to the fact that we mostly study ecology of species, our work strongly connected to field. Further aim of the Society is to involve students into field trips, because through their education we can rely that they will do their best to protect and preserve nature, thus making conservation of biodiversity of our habitats possible. Furthermore it is important to mention that the education activity of the Society is spread out on all citizens through constant communication with the public, lectures and issuing of professional publications. Members of Natura include people with wide range of interests; researchers, biologists, forest-keepers,alpinists, bird ringers, hunters etc.

Our aims are:

  • Exploring the ecological needs of plants and animals, and their conservation
  • Popularization of species conservation, natural rarities and biodiversity
  • Publishing of scientific publications
  • Education of citizens about endangering and protection of nature and natural habitats
  • International cooperation with organizations whose aims are similar to ours
